How much is this going to cost me?

Nothing. Unlike other platforms that work with wealth managers, we do not currently charge fund managers for raising assets from our partners. We select fund managers based only on merit. You just need to onboard Opto like any other investor.

Who are your clients?

We work with RIAs, family offices, and private banks. These are generally fiduciaries - just like us. We make sure firms are legitimate before allowing them to access our database to ensure your data is secure.

How does Opto pick investments?

A combination of rigorous due diligence and an extensive and exclusive network.

We perform our own in-house diligence review, including detailed statistical analysis leveraging proprietary AI-powered tools. We supplement our analysis by partnering with experienced institutional research firms, including Aksia and LCG, which together represent over $450B in assets under advisement, as of July 2025. We also tap our networks to confirm our views and ensure that every manager treats their investors with the respect they deserve. Each investment must then be approved by our experienced investment committee.

Our senior investment team includes experienced operators from across private markets with decades of experience and broad networks.

Furthermore, our co-founder, Joe Lonsdale, has experience as an entrepreneur in numerous sectors, providing connectivity across private markets, as well as deep roots in Silicon Valley that give us enhanced access to the venture capital community.

How is Opto different from other alternative investment platforms?

We have forged a business free from the faulty legacy incentives on which this market is built.

We arm our partners with the tools and data to identify the right opportunities for their funds. When we recommend an investment, it's with purpose. When we pass, it's with conviction.

This is because we are structured to succeed when our investors succeed. We weight our standard revenue model towards performance fees, while looking to reduce management fees and expenses.

How does Opto make money?

We tailor our level of support - and therefore the financial terms - to each client. But in general, Opto will charge some combination of a small software fee, a low management fee, and an incentive fee for meeting return targets over a hurdle.

Coupled with the fact that we do not currently charge investment managers when our partners allocate to them, this structure enables an undiluted focus on quality.

How do I know my information is secure?

We understand the critical importance of data security in private markets.

In addition to the fact that only verified wealth managers can access our platform, we operate with enterprise-grade security, successfully completing our SOC Type 2 audit.

What do you need from us?

  • Connect with us and start a conversation about your offering.
  • If we believe our clients may benefit from allocating to your fund, our IM team will reach out to you to discuss your strategy and thought leadership.
  • If we decide to recommend investment, we will sign a standard agreement that confirms our relationship and ensures we can allow our clients to participate in the allocation we secure from you, as well as access to your fund marketing materials and reporting to keep our partners informed.
